At the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, held at the Wuhan International Expo Center from October 26-28, 2025, Yuchai officially launched the YCK20-600kW range extender assembly. This product is currently the world's most powerful and efficient integrated power generation system, marking a new era in China's construction machinery power technology. The YCK09 IE-Power second-generation hybrid powertrain, unveiled at the same time, also features seven major upgrades covering key performance indicators such as power performance, operating efficiency, and fuel economy.
The Yuchai YCK20-600kW range extender assembly is the world's most powerful and efficient integrated power generation system. It is suitable for machinery such as tractors with 650-800 horsepower, forage harvesters over 9 meters in length, and large combine harvesters with a feed rate of over 25 kg (presumably with a maximum feed rate of 25 kg/s).
This range extender utilizes patented integrated flywheel motor technology, resulting in a 5% increase in volumetric power density and a 10% reduction in assembly axial dimensions. Its thermal efficiency under normal operating conditions exceeds 49%, and its motor power generation efficiency exceeds 97%. Compared to conventional fuel vehicles, it offers a 25% fuel saving, a 10% improvement in operating efficiency, and a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions.
Yuchai also showcased its hybrid product family, including the YCF11-15kW range extender assembly, the YCF36-75kW range extender assembly, the YCA05K-100kW range extender assembly, the YCA07K (A08) IE-Power assembly, the YCK09 IE-Power assembly, and the YCK16-400kW range extender assembly.
Mining and Transportation
The Yuchai YCK15N high-horsepower LNG range extender has been successfully installed on the Tongli Heavy Industry TLH120 new energy off-road wide-body dump truck. This model utilizes a hybrid powertrain, combining an automated manual transmission (AMT) with long-life batteries from CATL, achieving a 40%-50% operating cost reduction compared to diesel vehicles while also avoiding the range anxiety associated with pure electric vehicles.
Heavy Logistics and Construction Machinery
The YCK16-400kW range extender assembly is suitable for equipment such as large combine harvesters. The YCY25-100kW range extender, used in Yutong's plug-in extended-range hybrid semi-trailer tractor, pioneers a "high battery capacity + short range extension" technology approach, achieving a range equivalent to 1000 kWh with 400 kWh of power, effectively alleviating the battery's ton loss problem.
Diversified Fuel Technology Layout
Yuchai continues to deepen its presence in the new energy powertrain sector, launching the YCK06H hydrogen range extender, the YCY30N gas range extender, and the YCK16LM methanol hybrid powertrain, covering a variety of applications, including urban buses, mining machinery, and short-distance trucks.
The Yuchai range extender family now covers a full power range, from the YCF 11-15kW to the YCK 20-600kW. Its technological approach not only focuses on improving thermal efficiency but also ensures stable performance in low-temperature environments through intelligent control systems. For example, the intelligent temperature control technology of the YCY 25-100kW range extender effectively addresses the issue of reduced range in winter for new energy vehicles.
