The starter switch is a key component controlling the engine starting system of a bulldozer. Its core function is to supply power to the starter motor by connecting or disconnecting the circuit, thereby driving the engine. The starter switch delivers 24V power to the starter motor by controlling the opening and closing of a magnetic switch. When the key is turned to the START position, the magnetic switch coil is energized, the contacts close, and the current drives the motor. After the engine starts, the generator voltage will disconnect the magnetic switch circuit to prevent accidental restarts.

Starter Switch Positions and Functions

Bulldozer starter switches typically have multiple positions, each corresponding to a different operation:

OFF Position: The entire circuit is disconnected, the key can be removed, and the system is completely de-energized.

ON Position: The entire circuit is connected; the instrument panel performs a self-check and enters the operating interface. The engine is not started at this time.

START Position: Triggers the starter motor to work, converting battery power into mechanical energy to directly start the engine. HEAT setting (some models): Used for warming up the engine in low-temperature environments.
