"Brake belt lining" is a key friction component on the brake band. Simply put, it's a friction material attached to the inner working surface of the brake band. The brake band itself is a flexible steel band (or a band of similar material). The brake belt lining (sometimes called brake band friction lining or brake band pad) is riveted or bonded to the inner curved surface of the brake band, that is, the side that contacts the inner wall of the brake drum.
When the braking system is working, the brake band is tensioned under hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical force, and the lining is pressed against the inner wall of the rotating brake drum.
A huge frictional force is generated between the lining and the inner wall of the brake drum.
