Engine Oil Filter
The engine oil filter (commonly known as the oil filter) is a core filtering component in the engine's lubrication system, protecting the engine by physically intercepting harmful impurities in the oil. Impurity filtration intercepts contaminants such as metal debris, carbon deposits, and dust from the oil, ensuring clean oil lubrication for precision engine components (such as the crankshaft and piston rings). The bypass valve protection mechanism automatically opens when filter paper becomes clogged, causing abnormal oil pressure. This allows unfiltered oil to flow directly into the oil passages, prioritizing lubrication (at the expense of filtration for safety). Check valves prevent backflow. High-quality filters feature built-in rubber check valves to prevent oil backflow after the engine is turned off, which can cause wear during startup.
